Discovered diagonal synergy this year and I need to talk about it. We've always categorized synergies as cross-functional (horizontal), hierarchical (vertical), or peer-to-peer (lateral). But in two client engagements this year, we found synergies that don't fit any axis. They connect teams that are at different levels AND in different functions AND in different time zones.
